The second season premiere of MTV’s Jersey Shore show begins as the cast leaves the bad winter weather in the Northeast behind to bring a hurricane of drama down to Miami, Florida.
Everyone prepares to leave their loved ones as they journey down south. We meet Snooki’s boyfriend, Emilio (who I thought was her brother at first), and he gives her one final spray tan to the face before she heads off. When she gets into the car she uses the electric seat adjuster to move her seat up, and it seemed like she was pushing that button forever and getting ready to become one with the steering wheel, until she finally stopped.
Snooki and Jenni “JWOWW” decide to drive down to Miami together, and Pauly D and Mike “The Situation” ride down in their own car. This will be the first time Ronnie and Sammi are housed together following their break-up, so we expect a whole lot of drama to be centered around that situation. I thought it was so cute that Vinny’s whole family (all 350 of them it seemed) turned out to see him off. Oh, and Angelina is back on the scene, and none of the other cast members know she’s coming.
Pauly D and Mike decide to buy fireworks in South Carolina because I guess the ones they’re going to set off with fights, hook-ups, and crazy fist-pumping dancing in Miami aren’t going to be enough. Their SUV gets stuck in the mud, Triple A is called, that truck gets stuck, another Triple A truck gets both out, and now they’re on their way.
Meanwhile, Snooki and Jenni decide to make a pit-stop in Savannah, Georgia at a bar that is the opposite of crowded. They order fried pickles and have them for the first time. Some random guy offers them drinks, and proceeds to sit in the booth next to Snooki. After he does some crazy dance in his seat, Snooki announces, “We need to get out of this state ASAP”, and off they go.
Pauly D and Mike arrive at the new Miami digs first and pick their room. Angelina arrives next to the shock of the guys. They’re not sure if they want to hug her or bolt for the door. After she almost knocks them over with her hugs, she asks to share a room with them. There are a few seconds of awkward silence, and then Mike hesitantly agrees to let her be their third bunk mate.
Everyone else starts arriving with no one too thrilled to see Angelina, especially Snooki and Jenni. Some words are exchanged and so begins a new season.
The show really isn’t that interesting at the half-way point. I’m more intriqued by the movie previews being played during the commercial breaks, until…
The guys jump into the hot tub, followed by Angelina. Sammi is ticked off because Angelina is sitting next to Ronnie and even though Sammi and Ronnie are broken up, Sammi is still in love with him. Jenni breaks the top shelf in the closet, causing Sammi’s clothes to get wet by drinks that were in there. The clothes are washed in the sink and put in big, black trash bags (mildew), and the gang prepares to go out clubbing.
So you didn’t think all the girls could be in one cab together and nothing happen, did you? Of course not. Sammi’s depressed over the Ronnie situation, and Snooki and Jenni are discussing it with her. All of a sudden Angelina opens her big mouth, and Round 1 begins. Ding. Jenni is going off on Angelina and there is so much shouting, I’m surprised the cab driver could maintain his lane. In the meantime, we see a shot of the guys’ cab and it’s so quiet you could hear crickets.
They finally arrive at the club, and the tension is quite noticeable with the girls. Everyone gets drinks as big as Snooki’s poof hair, and then Ronnie and Sammi get into it. Round 2. Ding.
The group (minus Pauly D, Mike, and Angelina) take another cab to go someplace else, and then Ronnie calls Sammi the “C” word, which renders her speechless. Ronnie and Vinny get out of the cab and go to meet up with Pauly D, Mike, and Angelina.
While in the club, Ronnie becomes unleashed like a caged animal and starts dancing, sliding down poles, and kissing any and every girl he sees, including two at the same time.
Back at the house Sammi is still sulking over Ronnie and I want to shake her and say, “Forget about him, girl! Live it up while you’re in Miami and stop depressing the rest of us!” But I understand the game of love doesn’t always make you act the way others think you should. Sammi ends up saying, “Things don’t always end like a fairy tale ends.” Be prepared for a whole lot of make-ups and break-ups with Ronnie and Sammi as their roller-coaster relationship twists and turns throughout the season.
The clips showing what goes down during the rest of the season look pretty interesting and involve several down and dirty fights. Let the games begin!
